Vascular Diagnostics
Vascular diagnostics, or angiological baseline diagnostics, is an important tool in the detection, assessment and treatment of diseases of the blood vessels. In our practice, we use both ultrasound and digital X-ray imaging to examine the function and any possible impairment of function of the arteries and veins. Timely examination can detect diseases such as arteriosclerosis (constriction of the arteries), aneurysms (bulging of a blood vessel) or thrombosis (obstruction of a blood vessel), before they can lead to serious complications.
- ARTERIESArteries are the blood vessels that carry blood from the heart to the rest of the body. Angiological baseline diagnostics helps in the assessment of the blood flow in various areas of the body, which allows the detection of circulatory disorders that can cause pain and lead to tissue damage or organ failure. Arteriosclerosis – a complex disorder of the arterial vascular wall that is the root cause of many secondary diseases which can impair quality of life and performance – is among the most common diseases in the developed world. Cutting-edge ultrasound methods allow us to assess the conditions of the abdominal aorta and the arteries that carry blood to the brain.
- VEINS The veins carry the blood back to the heart. Varicose veins are among the most common abnormalities of the veins and are associated with an increased risk of venous thrombosis. As part of optimal treatment – whether medicinal, interventional or surgical – vascular diagnostics provides detailed insights into the condition of the blood vessels. Depending on the patient’s symptoms, in our practice we use digital X-ray or ultrasound examination for the diagnosis of venous disease.
